Been using FO the RM for years and for at least the last 4 years RM3 with update 3.2.6 and things are fine and robust.
XP HOME, SP2, Kaspersky Internet Security 7

Just moved to new PC, XP PRO SP3, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 (KIS2010)

Installed RM3 from original CD and updated to Ver 3.2.6 everything seemed fine.

Files coped from old PC to new and opened on new PC ok but when adding any fact to a person, the screen goes to zero persons (as if I have added an unrelated person). Any attempt to add data causes RM to close. When opened again, new fact is there.
Add new fact, same happpens.

The files work on my netbook (XP Home SP3 , McAfee) that I use when away from my desk. They all still work on my old PC

On the new PC, tried gedcom export (old pc) to new - same problem and same from backups. Tried renaming database - failed. Tried backups from 2008 and failed.

The files do not show any virus or malware.

Can I send a zip file for someone with XP PRO & KIS 2010 to try please.

Solved the problem

After I posted, I disconnected the internet and temporarily stopped Kaspersky Interent Security 2010 running and hey presto, RM worked.

The “KIS” forum expert straightaway told me to alter the settings in KIS for Roots Magic to exclude some of the file checking operations on RM data files and it worked

It appears that there is a greater amount of file integrity checking done by KIS2010 compared with KIS7 (2 versions ago). I can only think that this is time consuming and the .rmg file was getting out of step.
