Hi. I am trying to get my relatives interested in their ancestry and want to give them a read only disc. However when I burn a disc the photographs do not copy across. I wondered whether the reason for this is that I have an N type router with a hard drive attached and save all my data and photographs on that hard drive rather than the C drive. I use the default settings for my work on Rootsmagic4. Has anyone else had this is the problem and can suggest the best way of resolving it. Many thanks.
Hi colnagoman - I don't see why there would be a problem with burning a shareable CD with images on a different hard drive. As long as the hard drive is connected and RootsMagic can see the files when it is burning a shareable CD, then I can't see why there would be a problem.

Are the photographs attached to the individuals on RootsMagic? You need to make sure that the items are linked to the individual. You can check this by going to File -> Properties, and checking the number of "Multimedia Links". Media items have to be linked to an individual for them to be included on the shareable CD.

Hope this helps Smile

Phoebe - thanks for that information. I went back and checked the links and they were all there. I burned off another disc and the photos were attached this time, as you predicted. I don't understand what happened to the 3 previous discs I burned off. I had spent some time relinking photos to changed files and this may have caused a problem until the computer had fired up a couple of times. Anyway your advice spurred me into anohter check and try and it works. Great, I can now get on with my plan!! Thanks.
